Order & Shipping

Where can I exchange or refill my SodaTASTE cylinder?

You can order your exchange cylinder through our website. In our online shop, you can order an exchange box with the same number of cylinders you already have at home in an empty state. Once our exchange box arrives, you can remove the new CO₂ cylinders and place the empty, undamaged cylinders back into the box for return. Please attach the included return label to the package and send it back to us. You have 21 days to return the empty cylinders. If this period is exceeded, you will be charged the difference between the exchange and purchase price. This is €9 for Classic cylinders and €12 for Aroma cylinders.

Which water carbonators are the SodaTASTE cylinders compatible with?

SodaTASTE's screw-in CO₂ cylinders are manufactured according to the European standard ISO 7866 and are therefore suitable for all common carbonators with a screw-in system. You can find a detailed list here. Electric devices and Quooker carbonators are not compatible with our screw-in cylinders.

Sodastream carbonators with a click-in system are also compatible with our innovative Quick Classic CO₂ cylinders. As the only provider of alternative Quick cylinders for Sodastream carbonators, we can even accept your empty Quick Connect cartridges (with a pink ring) for SodaTASTE exchange cylinders, thus offering you an even better price. These cartridges fit the Sodastream Duo, E-Duo, Terra, Art & Crystal 3.0 carbonators.

What do I do if my cylinder is empty and I need a new one?

You can easily exchange your cylinders for full versions after use via our online shop. You only pay for the refill.

For screw-on cylinders with and without flavoring, you'll find the right page here. If you need Quick Classic cylinders for your SodaStream carbonator with the Quick Connect system, we can help you here.

Where do the SodaTASTE CO₂ cylinders come from?

The new TÜV-tested cylinders are made in Germany - from production to filling with carbon dioxide. We use biogenic carbon dioxide from a regional bioethanol plant.

Where can I buy a SodaTASTE cylinder?

You can conveniently purchase them in our online shop, where attractive volume discounts are also available. On the international market (outside our base in Germany), we are currently present in selected stores in France, Belgium, and Finland.

What happens if the package I ordered doesn't arrive?

Please first check the traceability of the package using your tracking number. If the shipment cannot be found, please contact our customer service at support@sodataste.com.

What is the difference between a purchase cylinder and an exchange cylinder?

With a purchased cylinder, you pay for the aluminum cylinder itself and the CO₂ filling, and you don't need to return an empty cylinder in our box. With a replacement cylinder, however, you can return your existing empty cylinders to us using our exchange box and the free return label. This way, you get a better price. Please make sure you already have the required number of empty cylinders at home when purchasing your replacement cylinders.

Why isn't my payment method working?

We are very sorry if you are having problems with the payment. Normally, all payment methods should be available to you without errors. However, for technical reasons, the page may have to be reloaded if a payment transaction has been aborted.

Exchange & Return

How does the return process work for exchanging empty CO₂ cylinders?

The return label for the exchange cylinders is included in the SodaTASTE exchange box that we send to you when you order exchange cylinders from us. You have a total of 21 days to return the empty cylinders (which must already be in your possession at the time of purchase). If we do not receive the appropriate return from you by the end of this period, we will charge you the saved difference between the exchange cylinder and the purchased cylinder. This difference is a flat rate of 9€ for Classic cylinders and 12€ for Aroma cylinders.

Which cylinders can I return as exchange cylinders?

With us, you can return not only original SodaTASTE cylinders (whether Classic or with Aroma) — we also accept screw-type cylinders from other providers.

And it gets even better: If you have so-called “Quick Connect cylinders” from Sodastream (the click-in type with a pink ring), we can accept those in exchange as well. Please note that in this case, you will most likely need our Quick Classic cylinders. These are compatible with Sodastream sparkling water makers that use the Quick Connect system.

Additionally, your cylinder must be functional — it should not have any holes, dents, or other major damage that would make it unusable.

Unfortunately, we cannot recycle old steel cylinders and therefore cannot accept them. Please make sure your cylinder is made of aluminum.

Is there a deposit if I only want to return empty cylinders?

In fact, there is still no deposit system for aluminum cylinders on the market – from any provider. To get started, you have to purchase a "purchase cylinder" or spare cylinder for full price (this includes the aluminum cylinder itself and the refill) and can then only exchange it at a lower price.

There is no deposit value like with PET bottles; it's more of a one-time payment to pay less in the future. Other manufacturers operate the same way: Sodastream, for example, charges around €32 for a simple standard Classic spare cylinder, and Kaufland (own brand) also costs around €20 for a new cylinder. So, we're not new to the market in this regard.

General Questions

How long does a cylinder last?

With our SodaTASTE cylinders, you can carbonate up to 60 liters of sparkling water, depending on your device. The usage duration of a cylinder may vary depending on how often you carbonate and how much CO₂ you add using the carbonation button. That’s why we recommend keeping about 4 SodaTASTE cylinders at home. This way, you'll always have enough in reserve and can also switch between different flavors.

What are the ingredients in a SodaTASTE aroma cylinder?

Our cylinders contain liquid CO₂ - this is exactly what is ideal for dissolving natural aromas. And we did. We brought these two ingredients together to create a refreshing fizzy experience with no unnecessary additives.

What does biogenic CO₂ or bio-CO₂ mean?

We only use carbon dioxide from bioethanol plants for our SodaTASTE products. We use a climate-neutral starting material from natural agriculture and can thus be even more sustainable and environmentally friendly. You can find more about this topic on our "About us" subpage.

Why is my sparkling water no longer flavorful?

The reason is that our aroma is dissolved in the liquid CO₂. At the end of the filling, however, this has completely passed into your soft drinks. The remainder of the CO₂ is then present in the cylinder in a gaseous state. With this you can still bubble about 5 liters of water. This is a completely normal process and does not constitute a defect in the product.

How often should one bubble for ideal results?

That depends on your personal taste. The more times you press the carbonation button, the more flavor there is in the water. We recommend you to bubble 3-4 times.

Why does ice form in the water bottle when bubbling?

If the water is very cold and the water bottle is not completely filled with water, ice may form when you bubble. This results, among other things, from the fact that the CO₂ cools down considerably when it exits the cylinder, causing the water to freeze for a short time. However, the ice dissolves within a few seconds and is completely harmless.

Is it normal for foam to form when bubbling?

Yes, that is perfectly normal. As with a good beer, some foam may form in the bottle during bottling. This happens mainly with new cylinders and depending on the local water quality and the type of device used. However, this is not a problem. The foam settles after just a few seconds and is then completely gone. Please do not remove the water bottle from the bubbler until the foam has settled.

Are there other flavors?

We're constantly developing our products and want you to be a part of it. Feel free to share your ideas with us.

Our product range will be expanded regularly, so stay tuned.

Are the flavors sugar free?

The natural flavors we use are sugar-free and contain no sweeteners. In addition to diabetics, they are also suitable for allergy sufferers, vegetarians and vegans.

How should I store my SodaTASTE cylinders?

Since CO₂ is a gas that reacts sensitively to heat, you should ensure that your carbon dioxide bottles are not exposed to direct sunlight. The room temperature for your carbon dioxide should not exceed 50 degrees Celsius. Also, if possible, make sure that you store our aroma cylinders at temperatures below 35 degrees Celsius so that the natural fruit aroma thrives and the taste in the cylinder remains unchanged.

In general, your cylinders should be stored upright and in their original, unopened state in a well-ventilated place.

Can I fill my cylinder myself?

Our SodaTASTE cylinders were filled under strictly controlled conditions in Germany. Filling by third parties is not permitted, as improper implementation can lead to serious injuries and damage.

How can I check if my carbon dioxide cylinder is empty?

There are several ways you can tell if your CO₂ cylinder is empty. First, please make sure that the cylinder is screwed in correctly and, if necessary, tighten it again by turning it to the right. If there is still no carbon dioxide in the water and you don't hear a hiss when you press the button, the cylinder may be empty.

To check this, you can simply weigh it with a household scale. The weight of a full SodaTASTE cylinder is approx. 1200g. An empty cylinder, on the other hand, only weighs around 760g.

My cylinder appears to be broken. What can I do?

Basically, our cylinders should arrive to you in top condition. If you still have the feeling that something is wrong with one of your copies, please let us know.

Please write us a message at support@sodataste.com with an explanation of the problem and the serial number of the cylinder. You will find this engraved slightly under the neck of the bottle. It consists of 3 letters followed by 10 numbers (e.g. BHA0003473328).

Can I swap between multiple aroma cylinders at home?

But of course! If you're craving apples more than mint, you can easily unscrew the existing aroma cylinder from your soda maker and screw in another one. Switching between different flavors is quickly learned and soon carried out as quickly as opening the syrup lid used to be.

Why doesn't my water taste exactly as described on the aroma cylinder page?

The taste of the sparkling water is influenced by many factors. These include the hardness of the water, the number of sprays, how the carbonator used works and how long the sparkling water stays in the bottle (to name just a few reasons). We also experience again and again that the exact same water creates different taste experiences for different people. That's why please don't forget what applies to food in general: taste is a subjective feeling and is perceived a little differently by everyone.

Why can't I find the raspberry flavor anymore?

When selecting our flavors, we continually consider many factors, including the cost of flavors and customer inquiries about individual varieties. In light of recent developments, we have decided to discontinue our raspberry variety.

However, this does not detract from the diversity of our product selection. It will soon be replaced by a new, deliciously flavorful variety with a similar visual appearance that will perfectly fill the gap.
