There are two types of CO₂ cylinders for water bubblers: the classic screw-in cylinder and the newer Quick Connect system from SodaStream. You can recognize the standard screw-in cylinder by its thread. It is simply screwed into the water bubbler and fits most common devices.

Since 2021, SodaStream has been using the new Quick Connect system, in which the cylinder is inserted with a click and without any screwing. All new SodaStream models are equipped with this system.

Whether screw-in cylinders or Quick Connect, we offer both. This is special because, besides SodaStream, we are the only manufacturer that is legally allowed to produce such a Quick Connect system under patent law. With us, you will always get the right CO₂ cylinder for your water bubbler.

In principle, water bubblers that use screw-in cylinders all work in a similar way, but there are major differences in the details. With many models, inserting the CO₂ cylinder is cumbersome because it has to be awkwardly mounted from below. In addition, cheap plastic is often used, which is neither particularly stable nor sustainable.

With us, it’s different: Our water bubblers are designed so that you can insert the cylinder easily via a removable head – quickly, conveniently, and without any effort. In general, it is easy to tell whether a water bubbler can be used with glass bottles. The device must always include a safety mechanism, such as a sliding cover or a protective compartment in which the bottle is placed during carbonation. The reason is simple: if a plastic bottle explodes, it may only cause a scare – but if a glass bottle shatters without such a safety feature, the consequences can be serious.

A water bubbler is worthwhile on many levels: you avoid carrying heavy crates, reduce plastic waste, and save money – because tap water costs only a fraction of bottled water. For several years now, newer models have been compatible exclusively with Quick Connect cylinders. These special cylinders are otherwise only available directly from SodaStream – or from us. We are currently the only alternative supplier of Quick Connect cylinders, and even at a lower price.

Yes, a water bubbler can contribute to healthier drinking habits. Many people find it easier to drink more water when it is carbonated.

With our natural flavors from the SodaTASTE CO₂ cylinders, the water becomes more varied – completely without sugar or artificial additives. This makes water bubblers, in combination with SodaTASTE CO₂ cylinders, a particularly healthy alternative to sugary drinks.

Only SodaStream water bubblers are compatible with SodaStream bottles, but compatibility depends on the model. Here are some key differences:

• SodaStream Crystal: Works only with glass bottles.
• SodaStream DUO: Can be used with both glass and plastic bottles.
• SodaStream Terra and other models: Generally compatible with standard SodaStream plastic bottles.

Be sure to check the user instructions and compatibility information provided by the respective manufacturer.

The basic rule of thumb is this: if your previous cylinders had a standard screw thread, you’re in great shape. In that case, all of our screw-in cylinders will fit your SodaStream water bubbler. One thing to keep in mind is that electrically powered bubblers require a bit of sensitivity, as they often carbonate very strongly and may cause overflow. Stopping the carbonation process early helps prevent this. After carbonating, it’s best to wait 10–15 seconds before removing the bottle – this helps you develop a good feel for the optimal moment.

As with all kitchen utensils that come into contact with food, regular cleaning is important to prevent germs or bacteria from forming and to keep the sparkling water fresh. You can simply wipe the housing with a damp cloth, as it does not come into direct contact with water.

The nozzle, however, must be thoroughly cleaned and descaled – at least every three months – to prevent limescale buildup and bacteria, which can affect both health and the lifespan of the device.

How to descale your water bubbler:

• Dilute descaling solution with water according to the manufacturer’s instructions
• Fill the bottle with the solution
• Insert the bottle into the bubbler and briefly carbonate once
• Leave to work for 15–20 minutes
• Rinse the bottle and nozzle thoroughly with clean water

Glass and plastic bottles are reusable containers and should be thoroughly rinsed with clean water after each use. At least once a week, a more thorough cleaning with dish soap or in the dishwasher is recommended. Bottles filled with syrup or used for direct drinking should be cleaned with dish soap after every use.

We also recommend wiping away any residual liquid caused by dripping with a damp cloth.

Many water bubblers start at prices of €80 or more. Often, a CO₂ cylinder isn’t even included. That’s different with us. For around €60, you already get aroma starter sets including Woody, a water bottle, one Classic cylinder, and one aroma cylinder of your choice.

Water bubblers can theoretically become breeding grounds for germs if they are not cleaned regularly. The moist environment and residues on valves or seals provide ideal conditions for bacteria. Infrequent use or improper storage can also promote germ formation.

How to prevent this:

• Clean bottles, valves, and nozzles regularly with hot water and mild detergent
• Allow all parts to air-dry thoroughly after cleaning
• Store the bubbler and bottles in a clean, dry place
